FRONTIER SOCIETY
When the original St. John's Hospital was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in a six-room wooden structure in 1912, the western United States was still regarded as The Frontier. Granted statehood only 62 years before, California especially offered the promise of boundless achievement and progress that has come to be known as the American Dream.
Since then, California has grown into our nation's most populous, industrious, complex state. Ventura County has become a leader in its agribusiness, manufacturing, electronics, aerospace and other industries, as well as a center for culture and tourism. The word "frontier," with its connotations of the primitive and of promises still unfulfilled—no longer seems to apply to many aspects of life here. But the pioneer spirit continues in our community. And one limitless frontier remains. more

For more than 50 years, the Humanitarians have been at the forefront of St. John's Regional Medical Center and St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital's philanthropic program. This group of committed business professionals and doctors have dedicated themselves to raising funds to advance medical technology and address ongoing capital and equipment needs.
Membership in the Humanitarians is comprised of several exciting benefits, including exciting events and activities, special receptions, informative publications and opportunities to socialize with other dedicated supporters.
