The CEO Challenge for Behavioral Health

The Challenge.

Lloyd H. Dean, CEO for CommonSpirit Health, has challenged Darren W. Lee, President and CEO for St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital and St. John’s Regional Medical Center, to a sit-up challenge in support of behavioral health expansion in Ventura County.

Each CEO will be competing to do the most sit-ups and raise the most money! The CEO Challenge will take place on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at St. John’s Regional Medical Center with video available on the hospital’s Facebook page by 4 p.m. PST.

The Need.

Behavioral health continues to be a growing health equity problem in the United States, which crosses all socioeconomic boundaries and age groups. One in five adults are living with some form of mental illness, with one in 25 adults experiencing serious or acute mental illnesses.

National standards for care recommend that a minimum of 50 inpatient mental health beds serve every 100,000 people; currently Ventura County has only 10 for every 100,000 people. The need to expand access and services is immense.

Solution.

St. John’s Healthcare Foundation, in partnership with Dignity Health, is raising money to expand access and services for behavioral health in Ventura County. Both Lloyd and Darren invite you to support their respective efforts in this sit-up CEO challenge.
