CAMARILLO, CA – July 6, 2021 – St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital, a member of Dignity Health, is pleased to announce that effective July 6, 2021, it will change its name to St. John’s Hospital Camarillo (SJHC). A step that will better identify the hospital with the community it serves.

"It is a privilege to serve Camarillo residents,” said Darren W. Lee, President and CEO of St. John's Hospital Camarillo and St. John's Regional Medical Center. “While we are proud of the St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital name, we are motivated to build on our legacy of healing as St. John’s Hospital Camarillo—a name that is representative of the community we serve.”

In 2018 SJHC opened the doors to its newly expanded 71,000 square foot hospital, enhancing its ability to provide state-of-the-art technologies and expanded services, marking the beginning of a new era for health care in Camarillo.

“The hospital is a pillar in the community, providing outreach and resources that extend far beyond acute health care services,” said Sr. Suzanne Soppe, Sisters of Mercy. “Our commitment to improving the health of the people we serve remains steadfast and the St. John’s Hospital Camarillo only reaffirms our promise to the Camarillo community.”

The new name will not impact hospital operations or patient care. The most immediate, visible changes that patients and visitors can expect to see is new campus signage.

SJHC was founded in 1974 by a group of community leaders who believed that a hospital was needed in that community. SJHC joined Dignity Health’s (formerly Catholic Healthcare West) St. John’s Regional Medical Center, making both hospitals the largest not for profit acute care providers in Ventura County.
